Demand for eco-friendly packaging solutions is growing

The global packaging market is undergoing a significant transformation: consumers, regulators, and manufacturers themselves are increasingly favoring materials made from recycled materials, including scrap cardboard. This trend is affecting virtually all industries—from food to cosmetics and electronics. There are several reasons for this. First, legislation is becoming stricter: many European Union countries are gradually introducing restrictions on single-use plastics, and some Asian countries are implementing extended producer responsibility programs. Second, consumers are willing to pay more for products in recycled packaging—this has become an important factor when choosing a brand.

Practical examples include several areas. Major beverage manufacturers are switching to bottles with a high proportion of recycled plastic, and some companies are testing packaging made from algae and mushroom mycelium, which completely decomposes within a few weeks. In the food delivery segment, containers made from recycled cardboard are gaining popularity instead of polystyrene foam. Retail chains are also changing their approach: packaging-free stores are popping up, allowing customers to bring their own containers, and packaging made from recycled paper is being used. Analysts agree: demand for sustainable packaging will continue to grow, and companies that fail to adapt to new standards risk losing their competitiveness in the global market.
