Consumption News – decline recorded in Europe

Last year, European companies using recycled paper in their production decreased their consumption by 1.3%. However, recycling volumes did not decline; in fact, they even increased. However, factories that convert newspapers into paper and printed materials showed a decrease in consumption. Of course, OCC 11 waste paper and other types of wastepaper are actively recycled in European countries. But why the decline? Analysts say the decrease in consumption is due to the structural decline observed in the printing industry.

This decline is not necessarily a negative outlook. The printing market, like other markets, experiences periodic booms and busts. Analysts indicate that new paper production worldwide will decline slightly in 2025. However, this does not mean that wastepaper will cease to be in demand. It is actively collected, recycled, and sent to new production facilities. Moreover, recycled paper is used for more than just newspapers and printed products. Waste paper is a versatile product, suitable as a raw material for companies that manufacture other products needed by the global community.
